When the theme for the Limerick Challenge is Humour,
Can’t stay away for long; correct is the rumour
Had to write a story too
Else all the boys would boo
Just hoping this one causes no tumour
Scolded by daddy, little Lenny became angry
Resolved to leave the day it was sunny
Ran away he did, from home
Thinking he’d go all the way to Rome
But saw him on the way, who else but toothless Uncle Danny
Hauled him back by the scruff of his collar,
When little Lenny tried to steal a dollar,
Looks like you need a good thrashing
Said Uncle Danny, his finger wagging
Lenny was naughty, showed him the molar
Where did you go, asked Mummy dearest,
Wanted to run off to the town nearest,
explained Lenny, all wet and sodding
for it was Daddy, who gave me a scolding
Aww, said Mummy hugging him closest
To make sure her son was no more flustered
She gave him some caramel custard
And even sprinkled some chocolate chips
Why it tastes so funny, thought he and his lips
Stupid Lenny forgot he added sauce mustard
Happy and wacky was little Lenny
Decided another day it would be sunny
He sat on the mat and played with his cat
At least Mummy made Daddy eat his hat
That for sure had been worth all his money.
