Morning Blues
The housekeeper walked in and blushed at the sight. It told her a mischievous story. She giggled to herself as she straightened the bedsheets and hummed a romantic tune.
The crumpled satin sheets held the promise of a love fulfilled. The mirror must have been a witness to their trysts, she thought naughtily.
In the bathroom, Jaya gingerly applied another layer of foundation. It barely managed to hide the bluish-black marks on her fair skin. She walked to the kitchen listlessly. The tea was ready. She took the pan off the heat and tipped the steaming liquid into the cups. She slowly added the sugar and stirred it in noisily. The spoon clinked musically against the side of the cup.
Outside the birds chirped cheerfully, heralding a new day.
Her bruises and broken dreams sang a different song. Romance existed only in dreams. Or inside the pages of her favourite novel. Her realities were different. They were the stuff nightmares were made of.

Intriguing story, well written!
Thank you! 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
Heartbreaking story. Very well written.
Thank you so much! For reading and commenting too 🙂
You’re most welcome. You are a gifted storyteller 🙂
Thank you! That means a lot to me. 🙂
You’re very welcome 🙂
This is so sad 🙁 But loved the way it’s written.
Thank you, Sassy! (Hope you don’t mind me calling you that) Sorry I made you sad. Glad the writing had that impact. 😉 😀
Of course. I like Sassy! I loved the contrast between what’s projected and what the reality is. And that’s kinda sad right? But you’re a great writer and you must give yourself a pat on the back!
So true! What we perceive at face value is sometimes so much different from the reality. And sometimes, we even comment on the basis of what we percieve. Imagine the housekeeper telling Jaya, “sahab loves you so much” or that “you seem to have had a fun night!” :'(
Thank you. I shall do that (pat on the back) 🙂
Exactly ! Facebook is just the same. Everybody seems to be falling in love, travelling, getting promoted, getting married, having babies. What we don’t see is the stuff under the wraps. That’s why I have begun to connect with blogging. It’s somehiow a place where we can be honest and real 🙂
You hit the nail on the head. FB is a blatant self-promotional bragging tool. I do that, more so now bec of WS. 😀 🙂 Blogging (and writing) is certainly a more effective place to share your real thoughts. I too felt that.
Whoa, did not see that coming, the way it started! Well written, my friend. And sad and true that appearances can be deceiving. One must look deeper….
Thank you so much, Dr. Sorick. That comment is so very special. Glad it sprung that surprise 🙂
Also still working on photos! My Ireland photos are all over the place 🙁 I might have to send them a few at a time!
No worries! At your own sweet time. 🙂 Thank you for doing it at all. 🙂
Well written! 🙂
Thankoo, Tingu! <3
Its sad.
It is, but then it’s reality for some. 🙁
not only sad but bad as well.
Why would some one be so insane.
This was what I was talkinh about! 🙂

Wow what a 180 degree turn – I love your plot twists! And yes appearances can be deceiving – under each picture perfect surface often exists another story. Nicely done!
True! So often people just assume whatever simply because of what appears on the surface. Glad you liked the story. Thank you so much! 🙂
